Those extra large beach towels aren't just a nice play to lay out as the waves lap your toes and the sun toasts your skin. They're actually a lot of fun and very handy to have around. Let's look at a few of the reasons why you might want to have a stack of these towels in your linen closet.
First, they're size makes them perfect for non-beach swimming ventures. It's great to get out of the water and to be able to wrap yourself in a big towel. Extra large beach towels are, in all honesty, extra large pool towels for those of use who don't live near palm trees. They can also pull duty for picnics or as a place to sit for an outdoor excursion to a kid's soccer game or a concert in the park. They're easier to move than folding lawn chairs and can serve much of the same function.
Second, they can be a lot of fun. Extra large beach towels often feature patterns, funny sayings, cartoons or motifs you don't find on the standard bath towel. You won't find a towel featuring a big green frog playing poker or a pithy saying about Atlantic City in a fine linen store, but that kind of craziness is perfectly normal on these towels. There's nothing wrong with adding a little silliness to your life and many extra large beach towels can do that.
Third, they're handy around the house. It's nice to have an oversized option for drying kids as they walk out of the shower or bath one a cool winter evening. Larger towels can also be nice for those who happen to have extra large waists and who can't wrap themselves in a standard towel. Though you probably don't want the risk of a plumbing disaster to dictate the nature of your linen purchases, it's hard not to at least mention the fact that extra large beach towels can be a godsend when an unforeseen problem has left water on the floor or in the case of large spills.
Those are just three reasons to invest in a few extra large beach towels. Don't worry, though. It isn't much of an investment. You can usually find great towels at exceptionally reasonable prices. In many cases, they're downright cheap. And that's true even if you opt for something slightly classier than a frog with a straight flush.
If you don't have a few of these towels, get them. They won't break the bank and you will be happy to have them around.
